SUSTAINABILITY

The Kyneton Agricultural Society has a long-standing tradition of sustainability, embracing recycling, reusing, and repurposing long before it was a trend. We are committed to reducing our landfill contributions and gradually decreasing our environmental footprint through proactive waste management practices. We also aim to better manage waste from our food vendors, exhibitors, and visitors.

Our goal is to create an environmentally sustainable show by minimizing carbon emissions and offsetting them through partnerships with Cassinia and Greenfleet, focusing on native vegetation planting in Victoria. We are excited about our journey towards a greener future for our community and beyond.

Initiatives like the Wash against Waste trailer, a ban on single-use plastics, increased recycling efforts, and exploring alternative power sources are part of our strategy to cut down on carbon emissions. In collaboration with Landcare and the North Central CMA, we are also providing local plants to residents. Visit the Landcare stand at the show to learn more and get involved!

This is our pledge to decrease carbon emissions for a healthier planet and community.

Children enjoy our farm inspired Country Parkour which is made entirely from recycled and natural elements.

We partner with the Wash Against Waste program. Food vendors use supplied crockery and cutlery to serve food. This is washed onsite and reused many times during the show.

Attendees of our Show can grab a Kyneton Show drink bottle and say NO to single use plastic drink bottles!

The Kyneton Transition Hub partners with us to help make our community stronger, resilient and sustainable.

Landcare provide local plants at their stand to those attending the Show for planting on their own properties.

Our exquisite floral installation created by PEMBERLEY 0F MALMSBURY used a recycled/repurposed windmill.

Many pavilion entries use recycled materials like this ‘Wearable Ag Art’ dress made using a hessian grain bag.

This amazing kookaburra was carved from a piece of reclaimed timber.

We have hundreds of entries in our Farm and Garden section, highlighting homegrown produce.
